He has published his own open source Dart package, wikimedia_dart, on pub.dev, and won Smart India Hackathon 2025.

How I Built a Route Optimized Delivery Map in Flutter Without Google Maps

Almost every logistics app needs maps and routing. The problem is that Google Maps gets expensive very fast when a rider app is making thousands of calls every day. So for a live rider delivery app, I built the whole map using flutter_map for the map and OSRM for real road routing. No Google Maps and no paid map SDK. In this short 20 minute talk, I will show how all the pieces work together in a real app that is live today. You will see how the rider location and routes are drawn on flutter_map, how OSRM gives real road paths, and how the app talks to a backend that decides the best order of delivery stops. Since this is a real app in production, I will also share what worked, what broke, and what I would do differently. The idea is simple. You should be able to walk out and build this yourself without paying for a map SDK. What you will learn: 1. When free is actually better than paid, and the simple cost math that makes flutter_map plus OpenStreetMap a good choice for logistics apps. 2. How to use OSRM to get real road routes and draw them nicely on flutter_map. 3. Why the stop optimization lives on the backend and how the Flutter app uses it through simple REST calls. 4. How to show live rider location and online or offline status on the map without killing the battery. 5. The small traps that cost me the most time, like tile caching and keeping the map smooth on cheaper Android phones.
